André-Hercule Cardinal de Fleury

Born in Lodève, France in 1653.
Studies in philosophy and Theology in Paris.
Bishop of Fréjus from 1698.
He resigned the see in 1715 to become the tutor of the young Louis XV.
Elevated to the cardinalate in 1726.
Although refusing the formal title of "first minister" he pretty much had all respective affairs in his own hands.
He was a member of the French Academy, the Academy of Science, and the Academy of Inscriptions.
